MY LITTLE STORY:

While enjoying the evening cool breeze, looking up the sky for nothing in particular but the starry heavens, serious thoughts about Nigerian’s economy couple with the rise in unemployment crossed my mind. What should be the solutions to these problems? I asked. Immediately the range of services rendered at our organisation, Business Women Networking Ltd comes to mind.

“Why not go out there and help these unemployed ones to be self-employment since it’s in your power to do so through your office?” an inner voice  said to me as I continued to wander completely lost in my thoughts. Why am I lost? This is because the attitude of Nigerians bothers me a lot; we are not service oriented people and so, are very difficult to ascribe to services even if it will make our lives better.

“Please come, let’s get inside the house” I want to know more about your organisation and its contribution to the society”, that was my brother-in-law’s voice calling on me and bringing me out of my deep thoughts as he tapped on my shoulder gently. “OK brother”, I got up from where I was seated and both of us went inside the house.

I begin to enlighten him, brother, Unemployment is universally recognised as a bad thing, and raise in unemployment inflicts hardship on individual, society and the country in general. So therefore, self-employment is the answer.

Our organisation runs series of services which are geared towards providing alternative employment.  We encourages people to become self-employed which are very attractive and come with lots of benefit, especially if one has just become unemployed or redundant.

Being self-employed is more rewarding than being a civil servant or working for an employer, this is because, you are your own boss, set your schedules and earn more money.

“At Business Women Networking Ltd, we carry out services such as Business Development, Management, Branding and Various types of training”, we also give out soft loan to people who need it, they borrow money to start a business or in case of financial emergency, to buy items or to fund a special event. We borrow money to whom we make sure will be able to keep up the repayments; “More to these…”

“Wait a minute!” He said cutting the last words from my mouth. “What do you mean by Business Development? Tell me more about it. He throws the question to me. I said to him, according to Oxford English dictionary, “Business is an occupation, profession or trade; something that is someone’s duty or concern …a commercial establishment, while Development on the other hand, is ‘to make it bigger or become larger, more mature, or more advanced, begin to exist or have’. Put together therefore, Business Development means to make your business bigger, nature, create or make a business exist. So our organisation can develop and enlarge an existing business for its clients.

We also help our clients start a business if they don’t have one already in existence, you “think it, we create it”. Whichever way, Business Women Networking Ltd promises complete customer satisfaction and effective service delivery, our clients’ business “is our business” and ensure customer enrichment and fulfilment.”

“Wow! That’s mind blowing, my dear!” my in-law finally said after my long explanations, “and I will definitely think about doing business with your organisation one day soon knowing that they can effectively develop and manage my business!”

OK brother, whatever is your decision, I advise that, if you want to be self-employ and start your own business, seek for advice from business service providers such as our organisation we are here to help.

I looked at the wall clock ticking endlessly in the living room and it was 11:45 pm! I realised it’s time to go to bed so that I will wake up early for tomorrow’s task! Good night, brother!”

“Good night, dear!” he said as I rushed out of the living room to retire for the day!

Business Development Lesson for Entrepreneurs

Your business has three steps: 1. The business: Your business is what you offered i.e. products or services. If you don’t know what business to do, you can start by consulting the business development experts for assistance and be honest with yourself when asking for help; don’t worry about having butterflies in your tummy or being nervous about it. 2. Environment: this does not replace what you offer; the role of the environment is to help your products or service in order to give a best description of where to locate your business it is not made to diminish it 3. Customers: In business when you come across a wrong customer you are in for trouble because you cannot afford to make a mistake. Don’t let go your products or services until you are sure of whom you are dealing with. This must be taken seriously because you are responsible for your business and must account for it. If you have a business and met with the wrong customer there will be a great conflict, it is your...
